Success Stories

Sweetpea, F.O.R. Animals

Sweetpea, F.O.R. Animals, Inc. is a no kill animal Webshelter on the Paxton/Rutland border in Central Massachusetts who reached out to Jericho Road Worcester for business planning expertise in FY15. They were in the process of applying to purchase their rental property to create a permanent home for the shelter. Jericho Road Worcester's Executive Director met with Maria and provided initial guidance on reaching out to resources and networking for funding, as several banks previously rejected funding. In addition, JRW arranged for one of their Skills-Based Volunteers to meet with Maria to create a business plan. A business plan with financials was initated with our Skills-Based Volunteer in early 2015, and before completion, Sweetpea obtained funding to purchase the property. The completion of the business plan and financials gave Sweetpea a strong foundation for future growth.

Sweetpea board member, Maria M., who worked with our volunteer Bob H., stated

"The business plan has enabled us to apply for grants as well as provide a clear focus for the future growth of our organization. The business plan will be a vital component in securing the funding needed for our capital improvements project along with the financial forecasting needed to sustain our organization."

Assessment of Donation Process for NEADS

NEADS came to Jericho Road Worcester in 2013 looking for systems assistance for the organization and it’s fundraising department. The process and systems for donations was slow and tedious causing delay in response along with draining human resource time. There was concern this cumbersome process could ultimately jeopardize donor funding.

After our Skills-Based Volunteer, Bob, completed a process analysis and recommendations for improvement, the CEO Gerry DeRoche reported on the project:

“Jericho Road Worcester provided a skilled volunteer who analyzed the organizations donor flow and provided a comprehensive deck that included his findings, trends, and recommendations. This analysis targeted our appeals and efforts with great precision and thereby made our efforts cost effective and efficient. This was my initial collaboration with Jericho Road. We are impressed and eagerly looking forward to our next project."

Jericho Road Worcester worked on a second cost analysis project with NEADS in FY14/FY15.
